Horses At Sandown

There’ll be even more horse power at Sandown Park Racecourse when Buster Lang hosts the return of his ultimate car show on the 5th and 6th August the 5th and 6th. Headlining this year’s show are US celebrities, Steve Darnell and Justin Kramer from hit TV show Welderup, featuring a Rat Rod Room in one of the main halls. Joining them from Holland, will be the fabulous Kirsten Van Croonenborgh and the Suzy Q Drag Racing Team, Sickboyz Customs with their incredible bike and chopper collection, and UK Lowriding Team who will amaze the crowds with a spectacular rolling display.

Don’t miss out on the US Cop Car area, TV & Movie Vehicle Exhibition, tribute acts, American big trucks, and learn how to jive in the Rock’n’Roll workshop.Steve Tripp, Buster Lang organiser said, “This is going to be the biggest and best yet, the whole team has worked incredibly hard over the year to source the best and unseen vehicles from the UK and fringes of Europe, resulting in what promises to be an incredible weekend.” Bring your show vehicles to Buster’s Show & Shine Arena, with trophies to be won. Street Machine will be there, and we were thinking of trying to get a bit of a SM Lazy Sunday vibe going on…

Pre-booked tickets are £10, or £15 on the door, kids go free and make the most of the weekend with camping available on site. For tickets and further details see www.busterlang.co.uk.

Charge!

Did you know that Schumacher is the largest manufacturer of battery chargers in the word, and has 85% of the US battery charger market? Possibly not, but you can get their range of chargers and DEKRA-approved jump-start packs here in the UK courtesy of Sealey. The chargers feature ‘Speed Charge’ technology that lets them safely charge a battery three times faster than a normal charger, and microprocessor-controlled ‘maintenance mode’ so they can be left connected indefinitely.
There are also the mighty, pocket-sized Lithium Jump Start packs, which are mega-useful. Check out Sealey’s special Schumacher promotion that is running from now until February – get prepared before winter! See www.sealey.co.uk or your local Sealey stockist. Did you know that Schumacher is the family business of NHRA Funny Car champ Don Schumacher and son Tony? Well, now you do.

Cap That!

Have you found us on Facebook yet? Look for www.facebook.com/StreetMachineMagUK page and the Street Machine UK Chat group. On there a couple of weeks ago, I posted this photo from York Raceway. Promoter Steve Murty was attempting to repair some wiring under the PDRC signing-on office, when along comes some herbert with a camera and one of Steve’s loyal marshals to take liberties with his dignity. We asked for some comical captions, and the best gets a SM T-shirt.

Don Hardy’s topical Tour de France gag, “Peter Sagan strikes again,” made me chuckle, while you’d have to have met the lady who rules the PDRC office with a rod of iron to understand Dave Mears’ “Ange says that if I find my wristband before morning I’ll be fine.” Pete Levick’s “You’re gonna have to connect the pipe if you want me to blow up the tyre” left us with a mental picture that will require surgery to remove, and Kris Thoburn’s “I’m sure there’s 20p under here” may or may not be a nudge at Mr Murty’s Yorkshireness! The top five, however, were:

“Claud BUTTler” – David Ogden
“Hey, look at this ant, he’s carrying half a cigarette!” – Mike Renaut
“Dear God, please don’t rain, it’s race day” – Alison Carr
“Just wait ’til my mate brings his tandem” – Steve Peppershaker
Winner – “That’s not the vanishing point you want to be aiming at” – Simon Chesterman
Get in touch, Simon, and tell us what size T-shirt you take!
